Teen Open Studio - Be part of CTV’s first ever teen-centric studio show and learn all about what it takes to make a television show.  Learn about operating our studio cameras, reading from a teleprompter, and running the control room like a pro!  CTV Teen Open Studio will meet July 3, July 17, July 31, and August 14.

Teen Camcorder Class - Learn how to use the CTV cameras so that you can check them out and use them for your own projects.  Pick one of two sessions: June 13 or July 18.

Summer Production Club - Join other teens to work on media projects, try out new programs like stop-motion animation and Photoshop, and build your production skills.  June 20, July 25, August 1, August 8, and August 15, 1pm – 3pm.

It’s been quite a year for “Lemonade” and the crew behind it. This video was selected for the Twin Cities Youth Media Network Showcase earlier this year, was a nominee for a NATAS Student Production Award, and earned a national nod with an Alliance for Community Media Hometown Media Award.

Are you interested in summer employment at CTV North Suburbs? We are currently hiring for two Media Makers positions and two Young Lenses Peer Mentor positions this summer at CTV. The deadline for applying to either/both of these opportunities is Monday, May 6th!

If you would like to apply for both positions, you need only send one resume and cover letter, but please indicate in your cover letter that you would like to be considered for both positions. 

Haven’t written a cover letter or a resume before? Not a problem! The week of April 29th, we will dedicate a portion of our CreaTV time to working on job-readiness skills.

On Saturday, youth from CreaTV as well as the Teen Production Club attended the Perpich Youth Cinema Film Festival and received a Best in Show Award from the Perpich Foundation for “Evolution of the Gaming Community”.

On Sunday, at the NATAS Student Production Awards hosted at the Theaters at the Mall of America, CreaTV teens received a Student Production Award for “Dance Documentary” in the Arts and Entertainment/Cultural Affairs category.

Jake, Zech, and Amy were on hand to accept the the award on behalf of CreaTV teens.

In addition to these, the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) announced that “Lemonade” would receive a Hometown Media Award in the Music Video category at the annual national conference this May. The Hometown Video Awards honors and promotes community media, and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels.

A Q & A with the 2012 youth filmmakers.

On Saturday, April 13, “Evolution of the Gaming Community” will be screened as part of the 2nd Annual Perpich Youth Cinema Film Festival, a peer-curated event. “Evolution of the Gaming Community” is a documentary project created by some of the 2011-12 crew of CreaTV: Amy O’Connell, Alexander Zaic, Erin Offenhauser, Jake Bailey, Masa Drazic, and Simone Scarafoni. Congratulations to the teens who worked hard on this project!

Come support our teen producers! The screening begins at 2 p.m. at Perpich Arts High School (6125 Olson Memorial Highway, Golden Valley, MN 55422). This event is free and open to the public. An awards ceremony and a Q & A with the youth filmmakers will follow the screening.

Hey CreaTV Viewers!

Want to know what we do in our meetings? We come together in a room and talk about world news, video games, music, zombies, and how the undead can talk! Haha, just kidding.  Got your attention didn’t I?

When we come together as a group, we discuss and plan out what we need to finish with the film, which gets really interesting and CREATiVe!  C’mon now, put a bunch of fun and creative people in a room and discuss video ideas = Epic planning!! We also work in the studio (obviously), we learn how to use media equipment like the camera (don’t forget to check your sound, focus, and white balance, etc.) and we edit our videos on the computers. We work together in the studio putting together sets, which is the fun part, and during this time we always check the lighting and set up mics. 3 2 1 ACTION!

What’s happening in CreaTV!?

The crew has been busy with filming, editing, and getting b-roll for our 1st film of the year. Our first episode will be covering backgrounds, culture, and languages. Each piece includes lots of interviews of our own CreaTV crew members. We will be talking about our heritage, religion, family, and what makes us who we are today! This also shows how we are all different but we get along great!
